We will stay at the unique Yew Tree Farm during the trip. Located in the northern English Lake District in the peaceful Coniston Valley, this landmark farmhouse is one of the most famous and most pictured buildings in the Lake District National Park.
Yew Tree Farm was once owned by Beatrix Potter, who left the farm to The National Trust. Yew Tree Farm was used as Miss Potter's home in the 2006 film ‘Miss Potter’ starring Rene Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, and has been visited by many celebrities over the years. Emma Thompson stayed at Yew Tree and Queen Elizabeth visited the farm during her last visit to the Lake District. Yew Tree Farm is a working farm where Herdwick sheep and Belted Galloway cows are bred and you can even collect your own eggs for breakfast from the farm's chickens. The surrounding area offers an abundance of beautiful scenery and is less than a mile from the beautiful lakes Tarn Hows and Yew Tree Tarn. Hiking trails are plentiful.
The farmhouse dates back to the early 17th century. Beatrix Potter bought the farm in 1932 as part of an estate and wrote: ‘I consider Yew Tree is a typical north country farmhouse, very well worth preserving...’ She personally oversaw the whole restoration of the farmhouse that took 2 years. She set up a tearoom there with the antique furniture she loved so much. The tearoom was run by the farmer's wife who lived at Yew Tree Farm.
Even today, Yew Tree Farm oozes character with a richness of period features and antique pieces, including some of Beatrix Potter's own furniture.
The farmhouse:
The panelled sitting room is at one end of the old pannelled hall and the dining room opposite - imagine dining at Beatrix Potter's own dining table in the room that was once Beatrix Potter's tearoom! Both rooms have fireplaces and oak floors. At the back of the cottage is a well-equipped, newly fitted kitchen where I prepare delicious English farmhouse meals for you.
The beautiful oak staircase has 250-year-old panelling and leads to the three charming, comfortable bedrooms with custom-made beds and beautiful antique furniture. Here you will find a double bedroom with four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom (double bath, basin and toilet/heated floor), a twin bedroom with panelled walls and en-suite bathroom (rain shower, basin and toilet/heated floor). The bedroom with sloping beamed ceiling has a king-size four-poster bed (en-suite rain shower, basin and toilet/heated floor).
Outside: Enjoy staying on a working farm. Yew Tree Farm has a private enclosed garden and a side patio with a private hot tub.
Please note: Goose down duvets/pillows. There is wifi, but the signal is not always strong.

Farmhouse cooking
All meals are included and cooked by me. I love the English country kitchen known for its delicious pies, stews, crumbles, biscuits and cakes. I regularly develop, cook and photograph culinary series for magazines, so I am more than at home in the kitchen. Every day I provide a tasty breakfast, a good lunch and a delicious Farmhouse dinner. On the first day, I welcome you to the Farmhouse in the afternoon with coffee and tea and homemade cakes and biscuits, and in the evening you eat your first Farmhouse dinner of the trip.
If you are vegetarian please let me know, that is no problem at all!
